一大早打开邮箱，一封题名“100,000 calls to Congress（十万个对众议院的致电）”赫然躺在邮箱里。

 

点进一看，果不其然，又一封来自奥巴马团队的来信。

 

信里的内容讲了，一个叫珍妮的母亲，当她儿子需要一个肾的时候，她捐出了自己的。但是她不知道保险公司可能以此为借口不给她保险赔偿。……今天，众议院里正在进行着关键的讨论，因此我们要使得我们的声音变得清楚“需要变革的时刻已经到了！”信里号召在一天之内能给议会发出十万个致电，并列出你当地的代表，致电电话等等细节……

 

回过头来看奥巴马当时在众议院的演讲，那著名的“I am not the first president to take up this cause, but I am determined to be the last（我不是第一个从事这项事业的总统，但是我决心成为最后一个！）”以及“You lie（你撒谎）”。具体视频可见http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2009/09/10/us/politics/20090910-obama-health.html

 

你可以看到在众议院里，对奥巴马支持的人起立对他的演讲热烈的持久的掌声，而另外也有一半的人坐在位置上动也不动。我们当时去国会山参观的时候，进入众议院里，那座位可是远远比电视画面展示的来得多，足可见在这个议题上分歧之大。而奥巴马为了寻求大家对他计划的支持，像公众发出了一次又一次的呼唤。现在，他的团队又再次发出邮件，并设定了一个具体的十万个电话的目标。

 

我很好奇，有多少人会打这个电话，他们是否能完成这个目标。有些人说他们并没有计划拨打电话，因为他们不赞成这个立法，而且也不知道这个珍妮的故事是不是真实的故事，并且他们还不认为打电话就能给事情的讨论带来多少改变和转机。

 

不管怎么样，我很期待能告诉我结果的下封邮件。

Health insurance reform is finally ready for consideration by the full Congress, and hundreds of insurance company lobbyists on Capitol Hill are working overtime to kill it. Calling is quick and easy, but effective -- and your voice has tremendous power at this critical moment.
